Motorola Razr 5G 2nd Gen Foldable Phone Launched: Price, Specifications And More

Motorola has launched Motorola Razr 5G as its update to the last year’s first foldable device from the company. This 2nd Generation foldable phone is set to have an updated Hinge and camera. The phone also has an OLED display panel along with Snapdragon 765G SoC with 5G compatibility. There are three color options for the phone as well.

Motorola Razr 5G features a 6.2-inch plastic OLED primary foldable display with a resolution of 2,142×876 pixels and a pixel density of 373 PPI. The display has a screen to body ratio of the device is 70.7% and an aspect ratio of 21:9. The front of the phone which is visible when the device is folded has a 2.7-inch glass OLED secondary display with a resolution of 600×800 pixels and an aspect ratio of 4:3.

The phone has a hinge to provide the traditional flip experience along with the latest technology of foldable displays. This year’s device is said to have an updated hinge which is claimed to provide zero-gap closure for allowing the phone even when folded a very slip design. The company has also said the phone is tested to withstand about 200,000 flips.

The front of the phone apart from the display also houses the primary camera. The display on the front is mainly to be used for replying to messages, checking notifications, answer calls, navigations, etc quickly without actually opening the device.

In terms of optics, the device has a 48-Megapixel primary camera having an aperture of f/1.7. Last time around, the camera in place was very ordinary making it one of the top complaints from the users. But Motorola has worked on this phone.

The camera comes with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), Quad Pixel technology to provide brilliant low-light images, and laser autofocus technology. Very interestingly, this camera is placed on the front of the device when folded so enabling the users to use the camera also as a selfie shooter. Motorola has also enabled several features in the device’s camera to help users in doing so such as Group Selfie Mode, Portrait Mode, Spot Color, and many more.

The phone also features a secondary camera placed at the top of the primary display when the phone is flipped open. This camera is a 20-Megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/2.2

The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC while the GPU in place is the Adreno 620. The phone has 8 GB of RAM and non-expandable internal storage of 256 GB. The phone runs on Android 10 with Motorola’s My UX on top.

For connectivity, the phone includes 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The device includes a fingerprint reader on the back over the Motorola logo. Other sensors on the device are Accelerometer, Magnetometer (compass), Gyro, Barometer, Ultrasonic, Proximity, Ambient Light, and SAR.

The foldable smartphone runs on a 2,800mAh battery along with 15W TurboPower Charging support. Despite the three screens, the phone is set to last for 24 hours. The device doesn’t come with a headphone jack. The phone measures 169.2×72.6×7.9mm when open while 91.7×72.6x16mm when folded. The weight of the device is 192 grams.

The Motorola Razr 5G has been priced in the US at $1,399.99 (approx Rs. 1.02 lakhs). There is a single 8 GB + 256 GB variant for the device. Although there are three color options which are- Blush Gold, Polished Graphite, and Liquid Mercury.

There is no information for the launch of the device in India yet. But it is expected to land in the Indian markets by late Autumn.
