Apple iPhone 11 is now the world’s most popular smartphone overtaking the iPhone XR for the first quarter of 2020.
According to a report put out by Omdia, the iPhone 11 has done extremely well compared to other popular smartphone models. Despite the impact of coronavirus, Apple has sold 19.5 million units of iPhone 11 worldwide in the first quarter of 2020.
Apparently, iPhone 11 has been popular since its launch in September last year and the company managed to sell more than 19.5 million units of iPhone 11 around the globe.
The second spot went to the Samsung Galaxy A51, sold globally 6.8 million units. With 4.7 million units sold, Apple’s iPhone XR has remained successful, making it the fifth most-sold smartphone in the last quarter.
Four of the Apple models have made it into this year’s top 10 list. The iPhone 11, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro, respectively.

Talking about the first quarter of 2019, iPhone XR was the only Apple’s smartphone to make it into the top 10 list and in that list, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max failed. Older models, like the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 6s, respectively ranked third and tenth.

Omdia foresees declining global smartphone market this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They think that many countries will see slower 5G smartphone expansion, which can lead many individuals to restrain themselves from upgrading their existing smartphones to new smartphones.
