What is OFDMA?

OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) is a wireless communication technology that enables multiple devices to transmit or receive data at the same time on a single wireless channel. It is a key feature of Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and is also used in 4G and 5G cellular networks.


How Does OFDMA Work?

OFDMA divides a wireless channel into smaller units called Resource Units (RUs). Each connected device is assigned one or more RUs, allowing simultaneous communication with multiple devices during the same transmission window.

This efficient use of channel space significantly reduces congestion and improves data delivery, unlike older Wi-Fi technologies where only one device could be served at a time.
