In, Smarter Living 2021 event, Xiaomi announced the launch of Mi Band 5 in India. Mi has kept on widening its range of smart products lineup in the country. It is one of the leading brands when it comes to smart fitness bands. The band comes as the upgrade to the Mi Band 4 launched last year. The band comes with 24-hour heart rate and sleep monitoring.

Mi Band 5 Specifications And Features
The Mi Band 5 features a 1.1-inch AMOLED display. The display has a resolution of 126×29 pixels with a color depth of 16 bits. The display has a backlight having an adjustable maximum brightness of 450 nits. The screen has a one-touch button.
The band is fitness-centric wearable so it does have fitness monitoring features including 11 professional sport modes. The supported exercises include Outdoor running, power walking, cycling, indoor running, pool swimming, freestyle, indoor cycling, elliptical, jump rope, yoga, and rowing machine. It also supports automatic detection of running or walking along with pace alerts, completed kilometer alerts, and high heart rate alerts.
Mi has also added 24-hour heart rate monitoring in this band. The band is capable of tracking Whole-day heart rate manual heart rate, resting heart rate, and heart rate curve as well. It also includes sleep tracking including support for Deep sleep, light sleep, rapid eye movement (REM), and naps. There are also dedicated options for stress monitoring, breathing exercises, PAI vitality index assessment, idle alerts, step counter, and goal setting.
Moreover, there are also women’s health tracking included features in this band. It is supported to record and providing reminders for the menstrual cycle and ovulation phases.
There are also several other features integrated into the band to enhance the experience of using the fitness band such as remote photo-taking, music playback, find my phone, phone muting, phone unlocking, incoming call notification, do not disturb, WhatsApp notification, app message alerts, calendar reminder, event reminder, weather forecast, timer, countdown timer, alarm, Bluetooth broadcasting, online dials, custom dials, preset dials, screen locking, charging progress display, choice of wearing method, and OTA upgrades.
The fitness band also has a high precision 6-axis sensor having a low power-consumption 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope along with a PPG heart rate sensor. It also has a Digital MEMS microphone.
The smart band is claimed to provide 14-day battery life on normal usage and up to 20 days on power-saving mode. The battery can be charged by making use of a magnetic charger which is tipped to fully charge the band in less than 2 hours.
The band has a 50 m or 5 ATM water resistance rating as well. This makes it ideal to be worn in showers, pools, and gyms. The band weighs just 11.9 grams and measures 46.95 × 18.15 × 12.45 mm.
Mi Band 5 Pricing And Availability
The Mi Band 5 has been priced in India for Rs. 2,499. The smart band goes on sale in the country starting on 1st October. The band will be available in black, teal, purple, navy blue, and orange colors. The band will be sold on Amazon, Mi.com in India apart from select online retailers.
