Xiaomi’s Mi Band series has definitely stood the test of time. After the success of Mi Band 4, the Chinese tech giant has revealed its fifth-generation fitness tracker namely the Mi Band 5. The new tracker offers many significant upgrades and it even outperforms the Mi Band 4 in multiple aspects.

Improvements In Display
The design language of the entire Mi Band series has remained the same. However, Xiaomi has transitioned from not even having a display on the first generation to a 1.1-inch AMOLED 24bit color touch screen display. In comparison to the Mi Band 4, the Mi Band 5 offers a 20% larger screen. Additionally, Xiaomi claims that the display on Mi Band 5 is comparatively brighter.
This time around, Xiaomi has also increased the number of native watch faces. Another noteworthy change in the design department is the transition from a circular button to a U-shaped button.
Magnetic Charging
Earlier, in order to charge the Mi Band, you had to takeout the tracking unit from silicon housing. Luckily, this problem is now resolved with the Mi Band 5. The new Mi Band 5 features a magnetic charging cable that effortlessly attaches to the Mi Band and charges it by using two contact pins.
While discussing magnetic charging it’s important to note that the Mi Band 5 packs a 125mAh battery that can power up this device for 14 days of moderate usage.
Professional Grade Sensors
The next noteworthy improvement in the fifth-generation Mi Band is in the sensors department. Unlike, the Mi Band 4, the new fifth-generation Mi Band can track and store data of up to 11 sports modes namely cycling, indoor running, swimming, exercise, skipping rope, yoga, indoor cycling, elliptical machine, outdoor running, walking, rowing machine.
Xiaomi also claims that the accuracy of sleep monitoring has been improved by 40%. Moreover, heart rate monitoring claims a drastic improvement of up to 50%.
Mi Band 5: Other Improvements
In addition to the above-mentioned improvements, Xiaomi has also improved the processing power of the Mi Band 5. The new band offers 24-hour sleep tracking Women’s health tracking female health tracking features.
Similar to its predecessor, the fifth-generation Mi Band will be available in a black color variant with 6 different colorful straps in Black, Blue, Pink, Orange, Purple, Yellow, and Green colors. This tracker retails for a price of 189 Yuan or roughly Rs. 2000.
