Xiaomi in its Mi Ecosystem Event announced several new upcoming products to be launched for customers globally. The products launched include Mi Band 5, Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic, Mi TV Stick 1080p, and Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2.
Mi Band 5
The latest fitness band in the very successful range of products from Xiaomi, the Mi Band 5 has been officially unveiled for the global launch. The band was although launch for the Chinese market last month. The band features a 1.1-inch AMOLED color display with ≥450 nits brightness. The glass over the display is 2.5D scratch-resistant glass with AF coating.
Being a fitness band, it has 11 dedicated different sports mode which is outdoor running, walking, cycling, indoor running, swimming, exercise, indoor cycling, elliptical machine, skipping rope, yoga, and rowing. Also, it is 5ATM water-resistant allowing to be used for swimming under 50 meters and be worn even during heavy exercises.

The watch can be used for tracking steps, heart rate, notifications from apps, managing calls, weather tracking apart from time and date. The watch has various sensors such as Photoplethysmography (PPG), Tri-axis Accelerometer + Tri-axis Gyro, Capacitive Wear Monitoring Sensor, Pressure assessment, Breathing training, and remote shutter control.
The Mi Band 5 has a 125mAh battery which is claimed to last 14 days on a single charge in normal mode and up to 20 days on long battery mode.
The fitness band has Bluetooth 5.0 for a seamless connection. The band also has NFC in its higher variant. The band measures 47.2 x 18.5 x 12.4mm and weighs 11.9g / 12.1g.
The Mi Band 5 has been released globally at a price of €39.99 (approx Rs. 3,435) and will be available at an early bird introductory price of €34.99 (approx Rs. 3,005) at select countries. The Indian pricing hasn’t been given by Mi yet.
Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic
Xiaomi in the Mi Ecosystem Event 2020 event has introduced a cheaper variant Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic to its Mi True Wireless Earphone 2 launched earlier this year.
The earphones from Xiaomi are powered by 14.2mm drivers just like in the expensive variant. The difference between the two is mainly in the codec as the basic version doesn’t have the AAC codec and the LDHC Hi-Res audio codec.
The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic is powered by Bluetooth 5.0 and also features Environmental Noise Cancellation. It also comes with features such as automatic connecting with previously paired devices as soon as the case of the earphone is opened.
The TWS earphones have been claimed to have a battery life of 5 hours while with the case it is said to last for about 20 hours. It also has Semi-in-ear design so that it doesn’t fall off the ears easily and comfort fit. The earphone weighs 4.7 grams apiece while the case weighs 48 grams.
The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic have been priced globally at €39.99 (approx Rs. 3,435) and available at an introductory early bird price of €29.99 (approx Rs. 2,575) in select countries. The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 were launched in India for Rs. 4,999.
Mi TV Stick 1080p
Xiaomi has entered the Smart TV stick sector by announcing the Mi TV Stick 1080p in the Mi Ecosystem Event. The TV stick runs on Android TV 9.0 and also has Chromecast built-in the stick. The TV stick also allowed the users to stream content at 1080p.
The remote that comes with the TV stick has a very simplistic design making it very easy to use. The remote also has dedicated Amazon Prime Video and Netflix buttons. It also has Voice control using Google Assistant allowing browsing and searching content very easy. The remote is called Mi Voice Remote by the company.
The Mi TV stick is powered by the Quad-Core Cortex A53 processor with ARM Mali-450 GPU. It also has 1GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. For audio enhancements, the stick has support for Dolby and DTS. The stick also has Bluetooth 4.2. The stick has Google Play support which makes it very easy to install other apps from the Google Play Store for TV. The stick measures 92.4 x 30.2 x 15.2 and weighs 28.5g.
The Mi TV Stick 1080p has been priced at €39.99 (approx Rs. 3,435) in its global launch.
Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2
Xiaomi has announced the launch of Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2. It is the latest offering from the company in the micro-mobility segment. The scooter has an extended range of 45 km and can be speeded up to 25 km/hr. There are various improvements made in the scooter from the inaugural variant launched in 2018.
The scooter has 3-speed modes, the Pedestrian mode, Standard mode, and Sports mode. It also has an upgraded kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) in place along with the Shock-Absorbing pneumatic tires and regenerative braking.
The scooter is powered by a 12800mAh lithium-ion battery which has a capacity of 474Wh which can be configured to up to 600 W motor. It also has a 2W ultra-bright headlight system along with a tail lightning system.
The Dashboard on the scooter has been revamped and now shows 8 data points for enhanced riding experience. The data it shows includes speed, battery, lock status, mileage, light status, driving mode, etc. For added safety, the scooter comes with side and rear reflectors.
The electric scooter can be also be connected to the Mi Home App to view various details about it on your smartphone. A special variant of the Electric scooter is also to be released by Xiaomi later this year in partnership with Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.
The Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 has been released globally at a price of €499 (approx Rs. 42,850). Mi has also released Mi Electric Scooter 1S priced at €399 (approx Rs. 34,255) for the global markets. The Indian pricing hasn’t been given by Mi yet.
