Reliance Jio has unveiled its latest smartphone, the JioPhone Next, which is built in collaboration with Google. The smartphone was announced at Reliance 44th Annual General Meeting (RIL AGM).
It’s a full-featured smartphone that supports Google’s whole suite of apps as well as the Android Play Store. The smartphone will give customers access to all of Android’s apps as well as Jio Apps.
JioPhone Next is the first smartphone from the company which is is powered by an Android operating system that Jio and Google have tailored specifically for the Indian market.
It will offer an optimized Android experience that will attract the masses in the entry-level budget segment market. Jio Phone Next will directly compete against entry-level smartphone from Xiaomi, Realme and Samsung.
From the images shown at RIL AGM, the phone will have big bezels on the front which is an old design. It will come with a rear single-camera setup along with a single front (selfie) camera. The camera will be a smart camera with augmented reality filters. Other specifications are yet to be revealed.
The JioPhone Next will come with the Android Go edition (said to be customized). It also features a voice assistant, automatic read-aloud of screen text, language translation and much more.
Starting September 10, it will be available for purchase in the market. It will come in Black and Blue colour options.
