At the 43rd annual general meeting, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani announced that Reliance Jio has designed and developed a 5G solution with “completely made in India” products and resources. As you might remember, Reliance Jio played an important role in making the 4G network widespread in India. Additionally, Reliance Jio also brought down the prices of data in India and following the footsteps of Jio, mainstream telecom companies like Bharti Airtel also did the same.
Well, even this time around we can expect Reliance Jio to be a key player in offering 5G service in India. So here’s everything you need to know about the announcements.
Reliance Jio 5G Services To Start In India By 2021
The trials and initial tests for the newly announced 5G technology will begin soon. Presently, Reliance Jio is waiting for the arrival and field deployment of the 5G spectrum in India. In addition to offering services in the Indian subcontinent, Reliance Jio has also planned to expand its services globally.
Since the 5G solution (services) developed by Reliance Jio is based on all-IP network architecture, it will be fairly simple to upgrade the 4G network to 5G. The newly developed technology is also dedicated to PM Narendra Modi’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision.
During the announcements, Ambani stated that,
“Jio has created a complete 5G solution from scratch, that will enable us to launch a world-class 5G service in India, using 100 percent homegrown technologies and solutions.”
He further added that,
“As India is standing at the doorsteps of the 5G era, we should accelerate the migration of 350 million Indians, who currently use a 2G feature phone, to an affordable smartphone.’
In other news, Reliance Jio is also working with Google to develop a budget-oriented 5G smartphone in order to spread the technology to masses.
