In late 2019, the Snapdragon 865 processor was introduced. We have already seen a large number of smartphones with this strong processor which include the Galaxy S20 series (China and US models), OnePlus 8 series, Mi 10, iQOO 3 and many more. In fact, there’s a big range of devices planned to come with Snapdragon 865 SoC (System-on-Chip).
This year, many more smartphones will come with this chipset only as reports suggest that there will be no launch of Snapdragon 865+ SoC. Asus ZenFone 7 and Asus ROG Phone 3 both are already confirmed by Qualcomm that they will feature the latest chipset.
On Friday, we had the very first hints about the ROG Phone III (ROG Phone 3). A device with a model number very close to that of the ROG Phone II appeared at the GeekBench listing and went through the certification process of the Wi-Fi Alliance. The Wi-Fi Alliance certification process confirms the dual-band Wi-Fi availability whereas the Geekbench listing confirms the presence of Snapdragon 865 SoC with at least one 8GB RAM variant.
A recent Taiwanese Commercial Times article now says both the Asus ZenFone 7 and ROG Phone III will be unveiled in July this year. The report says that the upcoming flagship and gaming devices will reach the market in the third quarter of 2020.
In addition, Asus expects its upcoming gaming phone to rise by 30-50 percent in sales because gaming phones are trending this year just like they haven’t trended before. On the other hand, the ZenFone series is pretty much a unified line of smartphones.
