China has removed TripAdvisor and 104 other apps from the App Stores in the country. The banned apps by the Chinese Government comes under a new campaign for cleaning app stores in the country. The apps removed are claimed to spread and promote content related to pornography, prostitution, gambling, and violence.
China has had a very stringent policy in allowing any foreign apps to operate in the country. And it is because of these strict laws that popular international apps such as Google, Facebook, Instagram, and many more are banned in the country.
According to the Cyberspace Administration of China, the banned apps have violated at least one of the three cyber-laws but no further details have been provided yet. TripAdvisor is one of the oldest internet travel companies having been founded back in the year 2000.
This comes after the second US court ruling against the banning of TikTok. US district judge Carl Nichols in judgment said that President Trump overstepped his authority when attempting to ban the popular Chinese short video-sharing app on national security grounds. He is the second judge to rule in favor of TikTok.
The tensions between China and the US have been constantly deteriorating over the past few years. And the major battlefield between the two countries has been in cyberspace in recent months. US President Donald Trump had banned TikTok, the Chinese authorities accused the US of bullying tactics and said it would take “necessary measures” to safeguard the interests of Chinese companies.
In the last few months, the Indian Government has banned several apps over the past few months. The cyberattack from the Indian government has targeted several popular Chinese apps such as TikTok, PUBG Mobile, AliExpress, UC Browser, and many more.
