Motorola Signature Launched in India: The 6.99mm Ultra-Slim Flagship with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Show Quick Read

Motorola has officially unveiled its latest ultra-premium contender, the Motorola Signature, in the Indian market. Breaking away from the “Edge” branding for this unique release, the device focuses on a blend of extreme aesthetics and raw performance, boasting a remarkably thin 6.99mm chassis paired with the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

Starting at ₹59,999, the Motorola Signature aims to redefine the flagship segment by offering military-grade durability and a quad-50MP camera system without the bulk usually associated with top-tier hardware.

Design and Display: Engineering Meets Elegance

The standout feature of the Motorola Signature is its physical footprint.

  • Dimensions: The device measures just 6.99mm in thickness and weighs 186g, making it one of the slimmest and lightest flagships to launch in 2026.
  • Build Quality: Despite the slender profile, durability is a priority. The phone features an aircraft-grade aluminum frame and is rated IP68 and IP69 for superior resistance against dust, submersion, and high-pressure water jets. It also carries MIL-STD-810H certification.
  • Aesthetics: It launches in two Pantone-curated finishes:
    • Martini Olive: A golden-green hue with a twill-inspired texture.
    • Carbon: A navy blue shade with a linen-inspired texture.

The visual experience is driven by a 6.8-inch 1.5K Extreme AMOLED display.

  • Refresh Rate: A massive 165Hz variable refresh rate for fluid gaming and scrolling.
  • Brightness: Peak brightness hits 6200 nits, ensuring visibility in harsh sunlight.
  • Protection: The panel is safeguarded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Performance: The 3nm Powerhouse

Under the hood, the Motorola Signature is among the first in India to deploy the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform.

  • Architecture: Built on a 3nm process, the CPU clocks speeds up to 3.8 GHz, promising significant gains in efficiency and raw power over the Gen 4.
  • RAM & Storage: Configurations range from 12GB to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
  • Cooling: To manage thermals in such a thin body, Motorola has implemented a copper mesh liquid metal cooling system.

Camera System: Quad 50MP Setup

Motorola has equipped the Signature with a “Gold Label” DXOMARK-rated camera system, featuring high-resolution sensors for every focal length.

  • Main: 50MP Sony LYTIA 828 sensor (1/1.28″) with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS. It supports 8K video recording.
  • Telephoto: 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 periscope lens offering 3x Optical Zoom and up to 100x “Super Zoom Pro”.
  • Ultrawide: 50MP sensor with a 122° field of view, doubling as a macro shooter.
  • Selfie: 50MP Sony LYTIA 500 front camera with Quad Pixel technology for 4K vlogging.

Battery and Charging

Defying the laws of physics for slim phones, the device houses a 5,200 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery.

  • Wired Charging: 90W TurboPower (advertised to provide “power for the day” in 7 minutes).
  • Wireless Charging: 50W TurboPower wireless charging.
  • Reverse Charging: 10W wireless reverse charging for accessories.

Software and Exclusive Services

  • OS: Ships with Android 16.
  • Update Policy: Motorola has committed to an industry-leading 7 years of Android OS upgrades and security updates.
  • Signature Club: The phone introduces India’s first lifestyle ecosystem service for smartphone users, offering 24/7 “white-glove assistance” for travel, dining, and wellness.

The Motorola Signature is a bold statement in a market dominated by glass-sandwich slabs. By combining a 6.99mm form factor with the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and a massive 5,200 mAh battery, Motorola has addressed the three biggest trade-offs of slim phones: battery life, heating, and durability. With an effective starting price of ₹54,999 (including offers), it poses a serious threat to the established flagships from Samsung and OnePlus.
