Nothing recently launched its latest flagship, the Nothing Phone (3), in India with several notable upgrades. However, new insights into the display technology and camera hardware reveal details that were not highlighted during the launch.
Display: LTPS Panel Confirmed, Not LTPO
While the Nothing Phone (3) was announced with a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen and a 120Hz refresh rate, it has now been confirmed that the panel is an LTPS (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) type, not LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) as many expected. This distinction affects power efficiency and adaptive refresh rate handling.
Camera: 3X Periscope Uses JN5 Sensor
Another key detail is related to the 50MP 3X periscope telephoto lens, which uses the Samsung JN5 sensor. Unlike larger sensors such as 1/2.2” or 1/2.55”, the JN5 is smaller, which may affect optical performance. This sensor choice marks a change from previous expectations and represents a downgrade when compared to Nothing’s earlier Pro camera implementations.

Charging: Fast and Wireless Charging Included
Despite the above revelations, the charging features remain a highlight. The 5500mAh battery supports 65W wired fast charging, along with 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. These upgrades offer quick recharging and additional convenience.
While the Nothing Phone (3) offers a powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, innovative Glyph Matrix design, and strong AI-driven features in Nothing OS 3.5, buyers should note the actual display and camera hardware specifications before purchase.
