Display

In terms of display, the two phones are very identical. Both the smartphones have a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The two displays also have the same 1080×2400 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a pixel density of 405 PPI. Even the screen-to-body ratio of the two phones is similar to each other.

The only difference between the two comes in brightness, as the Realme 8 has a peak brightness of 600 nits with a typical brightness of 480 nits while the M3 Pro has a peak brightness of 500 nits with a typical brightness of 400 nits.

Pretty much a draw on the display front between these two smartphones.

Processor And Chipset

There’s no separating the two here as both phones use the same Octa-Core MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G SoC along with the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. They also run on Android 11 software but the Realme 8 has Realme UI 2.0 on top while the Poco M3 Pro has MIUI 12 on top of it.

Both phones have 4GB and 6GB RAM options along with 128GB onboard storage. The Realme 8 also comes with an 8GB RAM option. Both the devices come with a microSD card slot to further expand storage.

The two smartphones are completely inseparable under the hood.

Camera

If you were expecting the Camera to make differentiating the two phones easier, it would make things even more difficult. The two phones have the same camera system. Both the devices make use of the same triple camera setup on the back.

The primary camera sensor is a 48-Megapixel lens having an aperture of f/1.8. There is also a 2-Megapixel Macro camera sensor along with a 2-Megapixel Depth sensor lens both having an aperture of f/2.4. However, on the front, the Realme 8 5G has a 16-Megapixel camera sensor with an aperture of f/2.1. While the Poco M3 Pro 5G has an 8-Megapixel camera sensor with an aperture of f/2.0.

All in all hard to differentiate the two here. If you are someone who likes to take a lot of selfies and attend a lot of video calls then Realme 8 5G might just edge over the Poco smartphone. But otherwise, there is nothing to differentiate the two in the camera.

Connectivity

The connectivity options in the two smartphones are also quite similar. Both the smartphones have 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The phones also have an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, magnetic induction sensor, light sensor, and side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Battery

In terms of battery, both the phone makes use of a 5,000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. Both the brands have provided support for 18W Fast Charging as well. Both phones are inseparable on the battery front.

Pricing

As similar as the specifications of the phone are, the pricing is also quite identical. The starting model for both the phone is 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant that is available for Rs. 13,999. Poco also has the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model alongside this costing Rs. 15,499.

But Realme also has 4GB + 128GB storage and 8GB + 128GB storage model available for Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 16,999 respectively.

Our Take

Picking either of these phones won’t be a wrong choice in any way thanks to many similarities between the two. Both the phones have many identical specifications when it comes to the camera, chipset, camera, etc. The pricing of the phones is also the same making it even more difficult to pick the winner.

But if one of the two has to be selected, we would go with the Realme 8 5G. The reason for the same is the presence of a better selfie camera and more RAM/storage variants.
