Jio 5G Connectivity To Launch In India In 2021 Says Mukesh Ambani

Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani revealed that Jio 5G Connectivity will be rolled out in India by the second half of 2021. The announcement was made by Ambani while delivering the keynote at India Mobile Congress 2020 on Tuesday. He also said that the technology would be a “testimony” to the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) policy.

The Indian business tycoon also said that policy changes are also crucial for accelerating the early rollout of 5G connectivity in the country. He also urged the government to take policy steps for bringing affordable smartphones for the underprivileged people who are still on a 2G network.

Jio has also been working extensively to bring 5G connectivity in India for quite some time. It has immensely led the 4G revolution in the country and becoming one of the biggest telecom companies in the country within just 4 years of its inception.

The strategic partnership between Jio and the likes of Google, Samsung, and Qualcomm is also said to play a huge role in bringing the 5G connectivity to India through Jio. The company also announced the launch of its first Android-powered smartphone in the country in the 1st quarter of the year 2021.

During the AGM of Reliance Industries, it was announced that Jio would start testing the 5G network in the country as soon as the spectrum would be available. Moreover, it was also teased by the telco that a completely homegrown 5G solution will be developed by the company.

Also, during the Qualcomm 5G Summit in October, Jio not just participated but also laid out its 5G plans and also announced the development of its 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) that will help test the next-generation network at scale.

It is also expected that the arrival of the 5G service of Jio would also help the company boost its existing and new developments of Jio Platforms. Jio is already the biggest name in the Indian telecom sector having a market share of over 35 percent and continuing to grow at the fastest rate amongst any other telco in the country.
