New Chromecast Launched By Google With 4K HDR Support

In the ‘Launch Night In’ event, Google announced the launch of a new Chromecast along with a revamped Google TV interface. Google also announced the new Google TV interface. The interface is said to be the single stop home to the movies, TV shows, and live TV across all apps and subscriptions of the users. There is also support for Dolby Vision and 4K HDR at up to 60 FPS (Frames Per Second).

New Chromecast Specifications And Features

Google has made the new Chromecast sleeker than ever before. The Chromecast has to be connected to the TV using the HDMI Port while it has to be powered up using the Type-C port on the opposite end.

In terms of resolution and quality offerings, the device has support for up to 4K HDR pictures at up to 60 FPS (Frames Per Second). Moreover, it also has support for Dolby Vision and HDMI Pass-through Dolby audio content. Apart from this, there is also support for Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus with HDR10 and HDR10+ as well.

New Google Chromecast

For connectivity, the Chromecast makes use of Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5GHz) and also Bluetooth support. The platform it runs on is the Android TV OS.

The remote that comes along with the Chromecast has also received a massive overhaul. This new remote is a Bluetooth powered device with support for voice control as well. The remote can be used to control the TV, soundbar, and receiver as well.

The remote also has an integrated microphone for Google Assistant allowing users to control the TV using voice controls as well. The remote also has an Accelerometer sensor. The remote now will also have a dedicated button for YouTube and Netflix.

The Google TV interface also has added a new For You tab. This can be used to get personalized content for the users. It will be providing watch suggestions to the user from all their subscriptions and apps organized and categorized based on what the user likes to watch.

There is also an addition of a Watchlist option in the interface. This allows users to keep certain shows and movies to watch later. Users can also add content to the watch later tab from their phones and laptops to view it later on their Chromecast.

New Chromecast Pricing And Availability In India

The New Chromecast With Google TV has been launched with a price tag of $49.99 (approx Rs. 3,675). It comes in three colors which include Snow, Sunrise, and Sky. So far the device available starting from October 15 only in the United States (except Puerto Rico), Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

There is no information regarding the launch of the device in India yet.
