Samsung To Produce Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC Worth $1 Billion

Samsung Electronics has reportedly won the contract to manufacture Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC. The next chipset for smartphones the Snapdragon 875 (unconfirmed name) will be housed by several flagship smartphones from Oppo, Xiaomi, Samsung, and many others.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC will be manufactured using a 5nm process which will reportedly make it smaller than the current 865 chipsets in place in several flagships.

According to a report from Business Korea, this contract is worth over $ 1 Billion and the manufacturing of this chipset is already underway. The production is said to be done using Extreme UltraViolet (EUV) lithography equipment

Although this is not the first time Samsung has received the contract to manufacturer Qualcomm’s flagship chipset as it did manufacture the Snapdragon 820 back in 2016. However, for the first time, Samsung will be producing the entire volume of the chipset.

There are no official reports from either Samsung or Qualcomm confirming this news but we can expect more information regarding this subject in the coming days.
