Mi TV Stick With 1080p, Android TV 9 Launched In India: Price, Specifications and More

Xiaomi has launched the Mi TV Stick as a direct competition to the very popular Amazon Fire Stick in India. This comes after being unveiled in the Xiaomi-Mi Ecosystem 2020 event earlier this year. The TV Stick has been launched globally last month. Just like Amazon’s device, the TV Stick can be used to access OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Daisney+ Hotstar, Sony LIV, YouTube, and many more on the TV. The TV Stick runs on Android TV 9 OS.

Mi TV Stick Specifications and Features

The Mi TV Stick is powered by Quad-Core Cortex-A53 CPU and an ARM Mali-450 GPU. The device has 1 GB of RAM along with 8 GB of internal storage. It runs on Android TV 9 OS. It also allows stream media at 1,920×1,080 pixels at 60fps.

For connectivity, the TV Stick supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, along with Bluetooth v4.2. It also has a Micro USB port to insert memory cards and HDMI port to connect with the TV. It supports video decoding for VP9-10, H.265, H.264, VC-1, MPEG1/2/4, and Real8/9/10 and audio decoding for Dolby and DTS.

Using the Mi TV Stick, users can access OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Sony LIV, YouTube, HBO, Spotify, and many more on the TV irrespective of it being Smart TV or not. Moreover, the Android Play Store allows users to download apps from its wide library of over 5,000 apps.

The TV Stick also comes with a remote which Google Assistant voice control along with Chromecast support. There is also a special Google app on the device as well called Google Data Saver. It can be used to track data usage over the TV Stick. It also has a data saver mode to limit the streaming quality and notify when crossed a preset limit. It measures 92.4×30.2×15.2mm and weighs just 28.5 grams.

The Mi TV Stick is priced in India at Rs. 2,799. The inaugural sale for the device is on August 7 at 12 pm. It can be purchased online at Mi.com and Flipkart while offline from select Mi Home stores. In the coming days, it will also be available on Mi’s partner stores across the country. The device comes in a single black color option.
