Activision has officially announced and released a trailer of its upcoming game Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War. Along with the trailer launch the gaming manufacturer did say the game will be “inspired by actual events” but no information was released regarding the gameplay yet but they did reveal the ‘worldwide reveal’ will be on August 26.
Call of Duty: Warzone has been one of the most popular games currently with over 75 million downloads as of this month. But Activision isn’t interested in just sitting back and reaping rewards of this hit game. No information regarding the launch date of the game was announced with the launch of the trailer, however, they have said in the past that the new COD game will be out by the end of the year.
The launched video of Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War features an actual speech by a real KGB defector. The plot of the game is likely to be around an alleged Soviet spy codenamed “Perseus”. The users will likely be allowed to play or interact with this character.
The video also said that “Perseus” is in the CIA files as well and even to date the identity and whereabouts of the supposed spy are unknown. The game’s tagline reads “Know your history or be doomed to repeat it” and in the description of the game, Activision mentions the name “Verdansk” which has previously appeared in Modern Warfare and also happens to be the name of the location of COD Warzone’s primary map.
If the video is to be taken seriously, the game is likely to be more strategic and be Stealth themed rather than complete action-centered as most games in the past have been. Only time will tell what it actually turns out to be.
Stay tuned for the latest information on the Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War when the game will be formally unveiled on August 26.
