Apple today unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 5. The fifth-generation Apple Watch offers many interesting features like Always-On Retina display, a built-in compass, international emergency calling and many more. Apple Watch Series 5 is available in many different materials and finishes like aluminium, stainless steel, ceramic and all-new titanium.
The new watchOS 6 will definitely enhance the usability of Watch Series 5. So here’s everything you need to know about the fifth-generation Apple Watch.
Apple Watch Series 5: Specifications And Features
Similar to its predecessors the new fifth-generation Apple Watch sports a premium construction. The new Always-On Retina display eliminates the need for taping or raising up your wrist to check the time or notifications. Apple has used a low power display driver and a new ambient light sensor to implement the always-on display.
In simple words, the screen intelligently dims when a user’s wrist is down and returns to full brightness with a raise or a tap. The great combination of hardware and software reduces battery consumption and Apple claims that the Watch Series 5 offers up to 8-hour of battery life.
The next major highlight of the Watch Series 5 are the upgraded navigation features. This time around the Apple Watch Series 5 comes with a new built-in compass. The compass app in WatchOS 6 can be used to see the heading, incline, latitude, longitude and current elevation. Furthermore, you can even use the compass with some new watch faces.
The cellular versions of Watch Series 5 come with international emergency calling feature. This feature allows the Apple Watch to complete international calls to emergency services, regardless of where the device was originally purchased or if the cellular plan has been activated. WatchOS 6 brings a plethora of health and fitness features to the new fifth-generation Apple Watch.
In addition to the Apple Watch Series 5, Apple will continue selling the third-generation Apple Watch. Apple has also made a significant reduction in the price of the latter.
