Reliance Jio Prime Subscribers Said to Have Crossed 50 Million Mark

Reliance Jio Prime last date is March 31, so little over a day is left for consumers to subscribe to the plan. But Reliance Jio is unlikely to be worrying too much about the subscriptions, as over 50 million of its users have already signed up for the membership plan, according to a source within the company who did not wished to be named. The 50-million figure represents half of Reliance Jio user base of 100 million, announced back in February.

An official announcement by Reliance Jio regarding the total number of Jio Prime members might be made after March 31, the source said. The last date for Jio Prime memberships is March 31, and those who do not subscribe to the plan by then will be moved to postpaid or prepaid plans automatically.

According to a report late last week, Reliance Jio had set itself a target of 50 million Jio Prime subscribers, but only 22-27 million people had signed up for the plan. The report added that the operator was mulling extending the last date for Jio Prime subscription by a month in order to achieve this target. However, with the 50-million mark now achieved, an extension to the deadline is unlikely now.

In order to lure users to its subscription plan, Reliance Jio has been offering up to 120GB data free to those who sign up by March 31. It has reportedly been reminding users of the Jio Prime last date via pre-call announcements as well.
