Jio Prime Plans vs Non-Prime Plans Compared: Is Rs. 99 Investment Worth?

Reliance Jio announced the Prime membership costing Rs. 99 for an entire year. Prime entitles Jio users to avail more benefits out of the standard plans. How much more and does prime makes sense? Let’s find out with this comparison between Jio prime and non-prime plans.

First things first, Jio prime itself doesn’t do anything. If you subscribe to Jio Prime and do not subscribe to any additional packs, then you will still be charged as per base tariff. Comparing Jio Prime Plans with Regular Jio Plans

Reliance Jio currently offer over 9 different plans. Needs of every type of user are kept in mind while designing these plans. So, there’s something for every type of user. Subscribing to Jio Prime unlocks special benefits in each of these plans. Here’s a side-by-side comparison between the prime and non-prime versions of plans.

Rs. 19 Daily Plan

Prime users will enjoy double the data in Rs. 19 plan as compared to the regular plan users. All other benefits are the same.

Rs. 49 3-days Plan

Subscribing to Jio prime can get you 300 MB extra data in the Rs. 49 plan. This is the double of 300 MB offered in the standard.

Rs. 96 Weekly Plan

There is a big difference when we look at the Rs. 96 plan. The regular plan is capped at 600MB of 4G data. On the other hand, having the prime membership can get you 7GB of 4G data capped at 1GB high-speed data per day. There is unlimited data at 128Kbps after you hit your 1GB daily limit.

Rs. 149 Monthly Plan

Jio’s cheapest monthly plan provides 1GB of data and unlimited calling for 28 days. However, prime subscribers will get 2GB of 4G data.

Rs. 303 Monthly Plan

Jio Prime customers can avail 1GB data per day for 28 days. Users can continue to surf at slower speeds after consumption of 1GB. Regular users will only get 2.5 GB of data.

Rs. 499 Monthly Plan

The ₹499 plan gives 56 GB of high-speed 4G data for 28 days. Data is capped at 2 GB per day and speed will be reduced afterwards. Regular users only get a much lower data limit of 5GB.

Rs. 999 Monthly 2 Month Plan

The regular users get 12.5GB in the Rs. 999 plan. Reliance Jio Prime users, however, get 60 GB of 4G data and unlimited data afterwards at 128Kbps. Prime customers also get double the validity at 60 days as compared to 30 days otherwise.

Rs. 1,999 Monthly 3 Month Plan

This plan pushes the validity to 90 days for Prime subscribers whereas regular users only get 30 days. The data limit is also significantly pushed at 125GB (slow afterwards) as compared to 30GB otherwise.

Rs. 4,999 Monthly 6 Month Plan

Again there is a significant difference in benefits for those availing the membership. Regular users are entitled to 100 GB of 4G data for 30 days. On the other hand, prime users get 350 GB of 4G data (unlimited thereafter) valid for 180 days.

Rs. 9,999 Monthly Yearly Plan

The largest plan offered by Jio provides 200 GB of 4G data to regular users. Jio Prime users can, however, avail 750GB of 4G data and unlimited data thereafter at slower speeds.

So.. Is Jio Prime Membership Worth It?

Absolutely! Jio prime membership provides loads of additional benefits in terms of data and validity for a very small price of Rs. 99. We do not know if Jio will later run special offers for regular users later on, but subscribing Jio prime makes all the sense right now. The value offered by plans under Jio prime are unmatched and no other operator (currently) offers similar benefits for anywhere close to Jio’s prices.

That said, there will definitely be a price matching done by other operators. And we will see data prices falling drastically. But we also believe that the combination of free unlimited calling, texting, and GBs of data will continue to give Jio a competitive edge. Jio also has more 4G base stations, hence making it capable of sustaining a large number of customers consuming a large amount of data.
