Xiaomi India has taken to its social media platforms and posted an image along with a post that says, “Paint the town red. Get ready to change your phone.” The partial image shows the new price of a device at Rs 5999.
With this teaser on social media, Xiaomi offer us a Rs 1000 price cut on the Redmi 2 which is currently available at Rs 6999. Also, the company may launch the Redmi 2A in India. In either cases, the price for the device will stand at Rs 5,999. This below photo is exclusively from flipkart which tell us the price cut of Redmi 2.
In the past, Xiaomi has dropped prices for its Redmi Note 4G which is now available at Rs 7,999. Following this trend, Xiaomi has also offered a price drop for the Redmi 2 as well.
In terms of specifications, the Redmi 2 sports a 4.7 inch HD IPS display at 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The phone is powered by a 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. It comes with USB OTG and runs on Xiaomi’s own MIUI 6 skin over Android 4.4 KitKat. The device has an internal storage at 8GB and can be further expanded via microSD card. It has an 8MP rear camera along with a 2MP front-facing camera.
On the other hand, the Redmi 2A, which is similar to the Redmi 2, features a 4.7-inch HD IPS display. It is powered by a 1.5GHz Leadcore L1860C chipset, which features a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU and Mali T628MP2 GPU. It is paired with 1GB RAM. The 4G LTE device has an internal storage at 8GB. The smartphone features an 8MP rear camera along with a 2MP front facing camera. The Redmi 2A has a 2200mAh battery.
