Show Quick Read

Apple has officially expanded its 2026 smartphone lineup with the iPhone 17e India launch. Starting at ₹64,900, this new entry-level model introduces premium components, such as the flagship A19 processor and MagSafe wireless charging, to a more accessible price point. The device is currently available for pre-order and will arrive on retail shelves nationwide on March 11.

Hardware and Performance Upgrades

A19 Chip and C1X Modem

Powering the iPhone 17e is Apple’s latest A19 processor, built on a 3-nanometer architecture. The chip features a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU that support hardware-accelerated ray tracing for advanced mobile gaming. It also includes a 16-core Neural Engine optimized for Apple Intelligence tasks on iOS 26. Additionally, the device is equipped with Apple’s second-generation in-house cellular modem, the C1X, which the company claims is up to twice as fast and 30 percent more energy-efficient than its predecessor.

Display and Design Elements

iPhone 17e retains the physical footprint of the previous generation, featuring an aerospace-grade aluminum frame and a glass back with a premium matte finish.

iPhone 17e Display Notch and Camera
  • Screen Specifications: It sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches a peak HDR brightness of 1,200 nits.
  • Durability: The front display introduces Ceramic Shield 2, which offers improved scratch resistance and reduced glare. The phone maintains an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
  • Design Continuity: Unlike the standard iPhone 17 🏆 series, the iPhone 17e does not adopt the Dynamic Island. Instead, it retains the traditional display notch to house the 12MP TrueDepth front camera and Face ID sensors. It also features the Action Button for customizable shortcuts.

Camera Capabilities and Charging

48MP Fusion Camera

The rear of the device features a single 48MP Fusion camera with an f/1.6 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). Through in-sensor cropping, it delivers an optical-quality 2x telephoto zoom, allowing users to capture 12MP zoomed images without a dedicated secondary lens. The system supports 4K Dolby Vision video recording at up to 60 frames per second and features an enhanced Portrait mode with automatic depth capture.

MagSafe Integration

iPhone 17e MagSafe

Addressing a common critique of the iPhone 16e, Apple has officially added MagSafe support to the iPhone 17e. The device now supports up to 15W wireless charging via Qi2 and MagSafe accessories, alongside fast wired charging via USB-C that can replenish up to 50 percent of the battery in roughly 30 minutes.

Pricing, Storage, and Availability

Apple has doubled the base storage for this generation, eliminating the 128GB tier entirely to accommodate high-resolution media and local AI processing.

  • 256GB Variant: ₹64,900
  • 512GB Variant: ₹84,900
  • Color Options: Black, White, and a new Soft Pink.

The iPhone 17e is currently available for pre-order across Apple’s official website and authorized retail partners. Open sales will commence on March 11, 2026.

The iPhone 17e bridges the gap between Apple’s budget and flagship offerings by adopting the latest silicon and doubling the base storage capacity. While it compromises on higher refresh rates and the Dynamic Island interface, the inclusion of the A19 chip, a robust 48MP Fusion camera, and MagSafe connectivity makes it a highly competitive entry point into the modern Apple ecosystem.
