Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Launched in India: Ultra Gets Slimmer, Smarter, and Costlier

Show Quick Read

Samsung has officially unveiled its flagship lineup for 2026 – the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra – at its Galaxy Unpacked event. The new series brings a significant shift in Samsung’s strategy for the Indian market, reintroducing the “dual-chip” controversy by equipping the standard models with the new Exynos 2600, while the Ultra retains the Snapdragon exclusivity.

With prices starting at ₹87,999, the series emphasizes “Agentic AI,” a new era of proactive software, alongside hardware innovations like a built-in Privacy Display on the Ultra model.

Galaxy S26 Ultra: 7.9mm Titanium Titan

The headliner of the event is undoubtedly the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung has engineered its slimmest Ultra flagship yet, measuring just 7.9 mm in thickness. Despite the slim profile, it packs a robust 5,000mAh battery supporting the new Super Fast Charging 3.0, which promises a 75% charge in just 30 minutes using a 60W adapter.

“Privacy Display” Innovation

In a hardware-first move, the S26 Ultra features a built-in Privacy Display. Unlike software-only solutions or stick-on screen guards, this technology uses a combination of pixel-level hardware control and software to restrict viewing angles instantly. This allows users to read sensitive emails on public transit without prying eyes seeing the content from the side.

Performance & Camera

Under the hood, the Ultra is powered globally (including India) by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 🏆 Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.

The camera system sees a massive overhaul in videography:

  • APV Standard: First Galaxy to support Advanced Professional Video, offering efficient compression for high-bitrate footage.
  • Low Light: Wider apertures across lenses to capture more light.
  • Zoom: 50MP Periscope lens (5x optical) and 50MP Ultra-wide sensor, paired with a 200MP main sensor.

Galaxy S26 & S26+: Return of Exynos in India

For the standard Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+, Samsung India has opted for its in-house Exynos 2600 processor. Built on a cutting-edge 2nm process, this chip features the Xclipse 960 GPU, promising ray-tracing performance that rivals the Snapdragon counterpart, though real-world thermal tests await.

Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26

Both models feature 1-120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays and share a 50MP primary camera setup. The Plus model gets a battery bump to 4,900mAh (45W charging), while the compact S26 settles for 4,300mAh (25W charging).

“Agentic AI”: Bixby Gets a Brain

Samsung is pivoting from “Generative AI” to “Agentic AI.” This means the phone doesn’t just generate text or images; it acts on them.

  • Now Nudge: Proactively suggests actions based on screen context (e.g., seeing a flight number and offering to track it).
  • Now Brief: A real-time summary of your day, notifications, and urgent tasks.
  • Conversational Bixby: You can now control deeper phone settings using natural language without specific voice commands.

India Pricing and Availability

The pricing sees a steep hike compared to the S25 series, pushing the base S26 closer to the ₹90k mark.

Galaxy S26 Ultra Camera

Galaxy S26 series marks a clear divide in Samsung’s lineup. The S26 Ultra is the “no-compromise” powerhouse for those willing to pay a premium for Snapdragon performance and privacy tech. Meanwhile, the S26 and S26+ face the challenge of proving the Exynos 2600’s worth to the skeptical Indian enthusiast market. With 7 years of OS updates, however, Samsung is ensuring these expensive investments last well into the next decade.
