All-New Apple iMac Launched In India: All You Need To Know

In Apple’s Spring Loaded Event 2021, the company launched the new iMac housing its proprietary Apple M1 SoC. Apple has also made the latest desktop slimmer than ever before. Apple also claims the desktop is now faster and cooler running than previous generations.

24-inch Apple iMac Specifications And Features

The Apple iMac features a 24-inch 4.5K (4480×2520 pixels) Retina display. The display also comes with Apple’s True Tone tech for color balance, P3 wide color gamut, a peak brightness of 500 nits, and a low reflectivity coating.

The latest desktop system from Apple also gets a new design. The body of the system has a distraction-free muted color on the front while a brighter hue on the back. Apple has also launched it in several colors with the base model coming in Blue, Green, Red, and Silver color options. While the higher-end models also come in Yellow, Orange, and Purple colors apart from the 4 basic color options.

M1 is a gigantic leap forward for the Mac, and today we’re excited to introduce the all-new iMac, the first Mac designed around the breakthrough M1 chip. With its striking design in seven stunning colors, its immersive 4.5K Retina display, the best camera, mics, and speakers ever in a Mac, and Touch ID, combined with the amazing performance of M1 and the power of macOS Big Sur, the new iMac takes everything people love about iMac to an entirely new level. The new iMac features up to 16 GB of unified memory and 1 TB of SSD storage for the base model and goes up to a 2 TB SSD for higher-end models.

The desktop runs on the M1 chip with ARM-based design and system-on-chip that significantly helps in reducing the size of the logic board and requires a smaller thermal system. It is also quieter than the previous generation by having replaced two small fans instead of the single large one. This helps by making the desktop up to 50 percent quieter (<10 dB).

The latest SoC in the iMac also makes it up to 85 percent faster CPU performance than previous-generation devices. This desktop also has instant wakeup along with up to 2x faster GPU performance, and up to 3x faster machine learning performance.

In terms of the camera placed on the desktop, there is a 1080p webcam that uses the M1’s neural engine for face detection and better exposure as well as color balance. To handle the audio output, there is a studio-quality 3-mic array with beamforming tech, and a Dolby Atmos-certified 6-speaker system. It also makes use of force-canceling woofers alongside high-performance tweeters.

Apple iMac Magic Keyboard

The connectivity options on the desktop include up to four USB Type-C ports, two of which can be Thunderbolt, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), and Bluetooth v5. Apple also has given support to up to 6K display. There is also a new magnetic power connector along with the 2-meter color-matched woven cable and an adapter that integrates the Ethernet port to save space.

Apple has also launched new accessories for the desktop alongside the iMac. There are three new Magic Keyboard models launched including a color-matching Magic Keyboard with new keys for Spotlight, Dictation, Do Not Disturb, and emoji. There is another Magic Keyboard launched having the same design but also includes wireless Touch ID. And the last keyboard model has the same new key design but including a Numpad.


24-inch Apple iMac Pricing And Availability In India

The all-new Apple iMac has been launched in India and will be available to order starting from April 30 through Apple India’s website and Apple Store app. The desktop is available in three models:

  • The cheapest iMac features an 8-core CPU, 7-core GPU, 8 GB of unified memory, 256 GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Mouse. It will be sold in India starting at Rs. 1,19,900. It will be available in green, pink, blue, and silver color options.
  • The next model is the 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8 GB of unified memory, 256 GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, two additional USB 3 ports, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Mouse, and Ethernet. This model will be available for Rs. 1,39,900 in green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver color options.
  • There is also an education model of the new iMac having an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8 GB of unified memory, 256 GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, two additional USB 3 ports, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Mouse, and Ethernet. It will be sold in India starting at Rs. 1,07,910. This desktop will be available in green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver color options.
