TikTok, the most popular Chinese short video app, has surpassed Instagram in numerous markets like India and now Google, the search engine giant, is aiming to replace TikTok’s popularity through its latest social app, Tangi. Tangi is an experimental social video sharing app, featuring fast do-it-yourself (DIY) videos that help people learn new things daily.
Very similar to TikTok ‘s concept, the app will allow users to share a one-minute or 60-second video on their platform. TikTok is mainly an entertainment-focused video-sharing app whereas Tangi comes with exclusive features that help users know more about things and improve their skills in 1-minute videos.
The app is created by a team from Google’s Area 120 which is part of an experimental project. Development of the app began in 2019 and Google has launched this app back in January this year but Android app was not available at that time, only iOS and web app were released at launch.
The platform also does not allow any user to instantly upload their videos onto the app. Users should first sign up with Google Sign-In on the platform and apply for the exclusive creator with Built-in Google Form.
