Google has announced that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones will be released later this fall. The phones’ design has also been confirmed in photos, and the company has stated that they will use an all-new Tensor SoC, which was previously rumoured to be codenamed “Whitechapel” and branded “GS101.”
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro both sport an aluminium frame with a matte finish on the Pixel 6, and a polished aluminium frame on the Pixel 6 Pro.
According to Google, the upgraded sensors and lenses, are now too huge to fit into the traditional square, thus the new design includes a new camera bar. The image also reveals that the Pixel 6 Pro will have a telephoto camera, which is lacking from the Pixel 6.
Google has yet to confirm rumours that the Pixel 6 series will receive 5 years of software updates.
Google Tensor SoC
According to the company, the new Tensor SoC was designed for how people use their phones today and in the future. It will include Titan M2 and a security core.
The team that designed our silicon wanted to make Pixel even more capable. For example, with Tensor, we thought about every piece of the chip and customized it to run Google’s computational photography models. For users, this means entirely new features, plus improvements to existing ones.
Tensor enables us to make the Google phones we’ve always envisioned — phones that keep getting better, while tapping the most powerful parts of Google, all in a highly personalized experience.

Availability
Holding pages for the Pixel 6 is already live on the Google Stores in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, and Taiwan. So, from this, it is confirmed that in the early stages, the Pixel 6 series won’t be coming to INDIA.
Also, the French site’s landing page only shows one colour for the Pixel 6 Pro (Black) and two for the Pixel 6 (Green and Black). Every other page for each model shows all three colourways, so there shouldn’t be any regional availability differences.
Google just said that phones will be released in the fall, between September and December, so we can expect it in October, around the same time as Android 12. The phones’ ultimate launch date should be announced next month.
