The end of 2020 saw the launch of Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 around the world. Both the consoles were launched about the same time globally. And right now, even after 5 months of the two being unveiled, they are sold out in most stores around the world.

Both the consoles have the latest technology and several features to enhance the experience of users. Both of them make use of custom manufactured AMD chips. And the chipset manufacturing giants also said due to the Covid-19 pandemic they are also facing supply issues making the production of the two consoles delayed and limited.

Sony PlayStation 5 Specifications

The PlayStation 5 is the latest gaming console from Sony. But talking about the performance and power delivered by the console, the PlayStation 5 has a Custom 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU with a 3.5GHz variable clock speed frequency. Another very important and useful specification is the GPU of the device, and it has the Custom-built AMD RDNA 2 GPU 36 CUs GPU with a 2.23 GHz variable frequency. It also has 10.28 teraflops GPU power.

The console has a 4K resolution at 60 FPS with up to 120 FPS. It has 16 GB of GDDR6 RAM and a memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. In terms of storage, it has 825 GB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD and an external storage option of NVMe SSD Slot with also support for USD HDD.

The disc slot provided is the 4K UHD Blu-ray. The Input-Output throughput provided is the 5.5GB/s of raw and 8-9GB/s of compressed throughput. On the dimensions front, the gaming console measures 390 x 104 x 260 mm and weighs 4.5 kgs.

Xbox Series X Specifications

Microsoft manufactured Xbox Series X is powered by the Custom made 8-core AMD Zen 2 CPU having a clock speed of 3.8 GHz and 3.6 GHz of SMT. The GPU provided is the Custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU 52 CUs with 1.825 GHz frequency. There is also 12.15 teraflops GPU power.

Xbox Series X

In terms of resolution provided, the console 4K video and gaming at 60 FPS with up to 120 FPS. The RAM present on the console is 16 GB of GDDR6 RAM coupled with a memory bandwidth of 10 GB at 560 GB/s and 6 GB at 336 GB/s. There is also 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 NVME SSD with external storage of 1 TB using an expansion card with support for USB HDD.

This console also comes with a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc slot. It has an Input-Output throughput of 2.4GB/s of raw and 4.8GB/s compressed throughput. In terms of dimensions, the console measures 151 x 151 x 301 mm and weighs 4.45 kgs.

Between the two controllers, the Sony PlayStation has made major changes with upgrading from DualShock 4 to DualSense controller. Sony has made the design ergonomic and made of higher quality material. There are also improvements in the haptic feedback and trigger resistance enhancing the overall gaming experience.

Microsoft has however not made any major changes to its controller. The company has introduced the new Xbox Wireless Controller. But in terms of changes on the controller, there’s a new “Share” button borrowed from DualShock 4, and a modified D-pad borrowed from Xbox Elite Controller.

As you may have already observed so far that the specifications of the consoles are identical if not the same for most cases and scenarios. This makes selecting one over the other very difficult. But if you thought the pricing of the products will help you select one over the other then we got some bad news for you.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X has been priced in India exactly the same at Rs. 49,990. This pricing parity just makes the battle of Xbox Series X Vs PlayStation 5 much spicier and difficult to make.

The PlayStation 5 also has a PS5 Digital Edition which will be sold for Rs. 39,990 with the same specifications other than the fact that it is having a disc drive. This model has not yet been launched in India.

The Xbox Series X has a toned-down and less powerful device in Xbox Series S with a price tag of Rs. 34,990. Even the Series S does not have a disc drive.
