[Update: December 15, 2020] Google not just acknowledged the major outage for several services worldwide and also released a statement revealing the reason for the same. According to the Tech giants, the reason for the outage was an internal storage quota issue and the problem was resolved within 45 minutes. Google also released a statement saying they will be working towards making this problem not appear again in the future.
Today, at 3.47AM PT (5:17PM IST) Google experienced an authentication system outage for approximately 45 minutes due to an internal storage quota issue. Services requiring users to log in experienced high error rates during this period. The authentication system issue was resolved at 4:32AM PT (6:02PM IST). All services are now restored. We apologise to everyone affected, and we will conduct a thorough follow up review to ensure this problem cannot recur in the future. Google Spokesperson
[Earlier: December 14, 2020] Several Google services facing a worldwide outage. Top Google apps and services including YouTube, Google Drive, Gmail, Google Classroom, and many more seem to have gone offline. The reasons for the same aren’t known yet and there isn’t any official word from the search giant so far.
Google reportedly has been working on the December 2020 Core Update which wasn’t completed and hence was the reason for a major ike on December 4th and slowing down since. And according to Barry Schwartz, the outage is the ‘second wave’ of Google December core update.

Amongst the services affected Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, YouTube, Google Drive, Google Meet, and many more are showing errors for users worldwide.
Upon opening any of these services of Google, users are being shown an error of ‘Something went wrong’. On Gmail, users are getting a 503 error when they tried to log in to their Gmail account while several others are seeing a 500 error when they try to log in.
On YouTube, users are facing an issue of an error with the message ‘Something went wrong’ and a picture of a monkey holding a wrench is displayed.
Even the official app store for Android users, the Google Play Store is down and users are not able to download and update apps.
