As India is getting more and more vocal about boycotting Chinese products, the platform is getting ready for Indian smartphone manufacturers. Micromax has already announced that it will be launching 3 new smartphones in India very soon. Lava has also jumped into the conversation by launching the ‘Design in India Challenge’ calling Indians students and professionals to participate in designing Lava’s next smartphone.
What Is The Challenge?
Lava has started the designing challenge calling B.Tech/B.E/B. Des/M.Des students and professionals in India to design a smartphone for Lava. The contest has three phases- Ideation, prototype creation, and presenting to the jury. The interested participants can join the challenge in a group and they will be mentored by Lava’s design team through the course of the contest.
The top three teams will be awarded cash prizes. The winning three teams will be getting Rs. 50,000, Rs. 25,000, and Rs. 15,000. Apart from this, the teams also will be getting a pre-placement interview at Lava. The registrations for the contest have already started and will be open until July 9.
How To Participate?
To join Lava’s Design In India challenge follow these simple steps-
- Visit the Lava India website and open the Design In India page or just click this link.
- Select if you are a student or a working professional.
- Fill all the details regarding yourself, your college/ workplace, and add team members and submit the form.

Lava also announced in May that they plan to shift their entire R&D, design, and manufacturing of their mobiles from China to India within the next six months. This will also mean they will be investing about Rs. 800 crores in this time.
Lava hasn’t announced any definite timeline on so as to when they will be launching their new smartphones in the market, but they are very keen on launching new competitive devices to rival the Chinese manufactures and have been vocal on Twitter with the hashtag ‘#proudlyindian’.
