SonyLIV has finally released its new prices for its Premium membership. The new plans will cost up to 200% of the existing plans. Sony has also released its all-new Originals with the new plans as well. Moreover, Sony has also promised “of a new story every Friday” in a tweet.

The new prices of SonyLIV Premium membership are Rs. 299 for Monthly plan, Rs. 699 for Six Months, and Rs. 999 for the annual plan. This is an increase from Rs. 99, Rs, 299, and Rs, 499 for the same plans earlier. The hike in plans and their plans to increase the content puts them back in direct competition to the likes of Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Disney+Hotstar.
SonyLIV is bundled with live TV of various Indian and Foreign language channels and also several movies and TV Series. SonyLIV has the rights of telecasting NBA, the UEFA Champions League, UFC, WWE, Europa League, Australian Open, and several Cricket tournaments as well in India. Moreover, popular Indian channels like Sony SET, Sony SAB, Sony MAX, and many others as well.
The originals that are also being launched include Your Honor featuring Jimmy Sheirgill, Kadakh featuring Rajat Kapoor, and as many as 5 more to be launched within the next 2 months. There are also various other popular English TV Series such as For Life, Viola Davis led Power, The Tudors starring Henry Cavill, Jonathan Meyers, and Natalie Dormer, The Handmaid’s Tale, Shark Tank, Mr. Mercedes, and many more.
There is also a big collection of popular Indian and English language movies like Bahubali 2, Piku, PK, 3 Idiots, Men In Black 3, The Pursuit of Happiness, Spider-Man 3, Insidious Chapter 3, Adventures of Tintin and many more.
Although all the old episodes of popular Indian shows like The Kapil Sharma Show, Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah, Baalveer, etc on SonyLIV will continue to be available for free.
It although is unknown how successfully will SonyLIV be able to compete with the likes of Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix who all have a wider range of collections of movies and TV series at a similar price. Amazon Prime Video has an annual subscription for Rs. 1,000, Disney+ Hotstar is available for Rs. 1,500 annually, while Netflix has plans starting at Rs. 200 for a month.
