Sony PlayStation 5 Announced: Design, Specifications, Accessories and List of Games

After several leaks and rumours, Sony finally announced the PlayStation 5 gaming console in an online launch event. The Sony PS5 comes in two edition — a standard edition and a digital edition where the latter doesn’t come with optical disk drive.

In the event, the company announced the design, few specifications, accessories and games.

Sony PlayStation 5 Design

The latest gaming console has a minimalist and vertical design with white panels on both side of a curved black interior on either side. The middle section has a regular USB-A and a front USB-C port along with blue LED lighting and vents along the top curve. The console’s back is unknown as of now.Sony PlayStation 5 Launched

The PS5 is positioned inside a vertical frame, something that Sony already has, beginning with the PS2, for its consoles. As of now, It is also not clear that if this stand is part of the package or a different addition.

The absence of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray drive on the Digital Edition distinguishes both consoles in term of design. This digital edition is lighter and has a more symmetrical style whereas the standard edition is bulkier and proportioned a little bit more oddly.

The overall design of both new editions looks different and appealing. It comes with DualSense controller which is already showcased back in April.

Sony PlayStation 5 Specifications:

In terms of specification, the latest PS5 runs on 3.5GHz 8-cores AMD Zen-2 processor along with 10.28 TFLOP custom RDNA 2 GPU that has 2.23GHz 36 CUs. It comes with 16GB GDDR6 RAM and 825GB SSD.
