PUBG PC Origin
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer royal battle game developed by the PUBG Corporation which is a subsidiary of South Korean gaming company Bluehole Studio. It’s currently being carried under a single brand named Krafton Game Union. PUBG has been designed by a man named Brendan Greene, also known as PlayerUnknown.
In 2017, the PUBG PC version was released globally. The game encourages 100 players to compete with each other, and the last one standing gets a Chicken Dinner.
PUBG Mobile Origin
Similar to PUBG PC, PUBG Mobile is battle royal battle game that offers a prestigious Chicken dinner to the winner.
Tencent Games, a part of the Chinese company Tencent Holdings, offered Bluehole to develop the game’s mobile version, PUBG Mobile. After that, the mobile version of PUBG was launched in China and it became a hit but later the Chinese Government banned it as it was against China’s cultural value system which the game doesn’t follow as there was too much blood and violence in the game.
Later, the game was re-launched in China with a different name as Game for Peace which was exact replica of PUBG Mobile with Violence toned down.
Later, Tencent launched the game as PUBG Mobile (Not as Game for Peace) in other parts of the world, including India as well.
Benefits to Tencent Games
Tencent Games also bought a stake of 11.5 percent in Bluehole in mid-2018. The Tencent Games have reportedly earned $1.3 billion from PUBG Mobile in 2019.
PUBG Mobile in India
India has 30 million active players per month, and around 13 million daily active players.
Conclusion
Technically, there are two different PUBG — One is PUBG PC and the other is PUBG Mobile.
PUBG PC is made in South Korea by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of Bluehole Company. So, the revenue earned using this goes to Korea.
PUBG Mobile is made in China by Tencent Games, a part of Tencent Holdings. Also, it has 11.5 percent share in Bluehole. So, the revenue earned using this directly goes to China.
