Sharp Aquos R2 Compact With 2 Display Notch Launched

On Thursday, Sharp launched Sharp Aquos R2 Compact smartphone at an event held in Japan.

The main highlight of the smartphone is Dual Display Notch — first waterdrop-style display notch on the top of the display which houses a front-facing camera and second wide notch on the bottom of the display which houses front facing fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is also water and dust resistant (IPX 5 – IPX8 / IP6X).

Sharp Aquos R2 Compact: Price, Sale Date

• The official pricing of the smartphone is still not revealed by the company.
• Sharp Aquos expected price is JPY 37,599 (roughly Rs. 29,990) for the sole 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage variant.
• The smartphone will be available for purchase starting January 2019 in Japan through SoftBank. It will come in Smoke Green, Deep White and Pure Black colours.
• Availability, pricing for India and other markets is yet to be announced.

Sharp Aquos R2 Compact: Specifications and Features

Now coming to the specifications, Sharp Aquos R2 Compact sports a 5.2-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio, full-HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) resolution. The smartphone has calculated 80.1 percent screen-to-body ratio along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. Based on Android 9.0 Pie, the phone runs on 2.8GHz Snapdragon 845 processor with Adreno 630 GPU. It comes with 4GB RAM option.

In optics, there is a single camera setup, the 22.6MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture. On the front, there is a single camera setup as well, the 8MP sensor. The phone has LED flash on the back.

When it comes to storage, the smartphone comes with 64GB internal storage (expandable upto 512GB). Connectivity suite of the smartphone includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS and USB Type-C. The sensors on board the handset are accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and front-facing fingerprint sensor. Sharp Aquos R2 Compact battery capacity is 2,500mAh with the support fast charging. The handset is listed in Smoke Green, Deep White and Pure Black colours, measures 131x64x9.3mm and weighs 131 grams.
