On Saturday, Oppo launched Oppo A7 in India. The company is now targeting the mid-range budget smartphone segment in India.
The smartphone was launched in China last week and sports 6.2-inch waterdrop notch display, Snapdragon 450 SoC, dual rear camera setup and more.

Oppo A7: Price in India, Sale Date
- Oppo A7 price in India is Rs. 16,990 for the sole 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage variant
- The smartphone will be available for purchase via Flipkart starting next week. The smartphone will come in Glaring Gold and Glaze Blue colours.
Oppo A7: Specifications and Features
Now coming to the specifications, Oppo A7 sports a 6.2-inch Waterdrop Notch Display with 19:9 aspect ratio and HD+ (720×1520 pixels) resolution. Based on ColorOS 5.2 on the top of Android 8.1 Oreo, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 450 14nm processor with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 4GB RAM options. The smartphone has the support of hybrid dual-SIM (Nano+Nano/microSD).
In optics, there is a dual rear camera setup, the first camera includes a 13MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and the second camera includes a 5MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, there is a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone has LED flash on the back.
When it comes to storage, the smartphone comes with 64GB of internal storage and microSD support up to 256GB. Connectivity suite of the smartphone includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS and Micro-USB port. The sensors on board the handset are accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and rear-facing fingerprint sensor. The Oppo A7 battery capacity is 4,230mAh. The handset is listed in Glaring Gold and Glaze Blue colours, measures 155.9×75.4×8.1mm and weighs 168 grams.

Author’s Opinion
The Oppo A7 is a mid-range device that comes with decent features. It has a premium looking body which features a bezel-less display. The cameras of the device are decent and the battery capacity is huge, which can provide immense power backup. On the other hand, it lacks in many things like no Full HD+ display support which is must in this price range.
Talking about the competition in this price range, the real competitors of this smartphone are Redmi Note 6 Pro, Realme 2 Pro, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Honor 8X and Nokia 6.1 Plus.
For Oppo, the competition and users opinion doesn’t matter, they are on another level. Like Oppo A7, the company is continuously launching many smartphones at very high prices and offering less than expected. Only HD display and Snapdragon 450 are just not acceptable at this price.
Overall, We don’t recommend Oppo A7 to anyone. However, at the time of writing this article, our recommendation at this price will be Realme 2 Pro.
