Honor 8X With GPU Turbo, AI Dual Cameras Launched in India

On Tuesday, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched Honor 8X in India and it will be Amazon exclusive. The smartphone features glass back, display notch, dual camera setup. It includes GPU Turbo Technology and Dolby Atmos surround sound backed by stereo speakers. Honor 8X is the successor of last year’s Honor 7X.

Honor claims that GPU Turbo increases performance by up to 60 percent while reducing battery consumption by up to 30 percent. It will also benefit mobile games that require high graphics processing efficiency by enhancing the speed and optimising the gaming experience. The smartphone also includes artificial intelligence (AI) for better imaging.

Honor 8X Price in India, Sale Date

  • Honor 8X price in India starts at Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, and Rs. 18,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant.
  • The smartphone will be exclusively available for purchase via Amazon starting October 24. The smartphone will come in Black, Red, and Blue colour.

Honor 8X Specifications and Features

Now coming to the specifications, Honor 8X sports a 6.5-inch Notch Display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) resolution. The smartphone has pixel density of 397ppi along with screen-to-body ratio of 91 percent. Based on EMUI 8.2.0 on the top of Android 8.1 Oreo, the dual-SIM (Nano + Nano + microSD Slot) phone runs on the 2.2GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC with Mali G51 GPU. In optics, there is a dual rear camera setup with 20MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 2MP secondary sensor for depth sensing. In the front, it comes with a 16-megapixel fixed focus camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The phone has LED flash on the back.

When it comes to storage, the smartphone comes with 64GB/128GB of internal storage and microSD support up to 400GB. Connectivity suite of the smartphone includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE with aptX support, GPS, micro-USB port, 3.5mm audio jack and more. The sensors on board the handset are accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor and fingerprint sensor on the back. The Honor 8X battery capacity is 3,750mAh with 10W charge support. The handset is listed in Black, Red and Blue colours, measures 160.4×76.6×7.8mm and weighs 175 grams.

Author’s Opinion

The Honor 8X is a bold presence in the price segment, from the vibrant display which makes consuming HD content on it a delight. The remarkable cameras take rich pictures with much detail and appreciable colour reproduction.

The power-packed configuration underneath aids the experience tremendously by delivering a smooth user experience through most apps and games. Lastly, the sizeable battery ensures that your usage remains uninterrupted.

Overall, it is a good buy in this price segment.
