Panasonic introduces Smartphones Mobivation 2016

Panasonic India, a leader in technology innovation today introduced Smartphones Mobivation 2016 with the launch of Panasonic Open-Innovation contest. Panasonic’s Innovation contest is an open innovation challenge for students studying in leading technical schools. The contest aims to further strengthen the innovative streak of the students and help them apply theoretical knowledge in a more practical way. Individuals or teams are free to think creatively and outside-the-box, be innovative and inventive in their approach. The innovation (Hardware/Software) must be Smartphone Centric (Android Platform) and shall fall in the categories listed by the company. The participants can register online on www.mobivation.in for free and submit their Synopsis by 10th Sept’16. The month long contest commences today and the winners announced by 14thOct’16.

Panasonic Open-Innovation contest is open to all students currently enrolled either full-time or part-time in IIT Delhi & Roorkee, DTU Delhi and NSIT Delhi.

Participants can register as individuals or teams. Teams can be a maximum of 3 persons with maximum one staff member as part of a team. The team to also designate a team leader. Any individual or team can choose to participate in one or multiple categories mentioned below; subject to a maximum of 3 categories.

The 5 categories are:

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI);
2. Internet of Things (IoT);
3. Software – UI/UX Customization;
4. Software: Android Innovative features/App concept to enhance consumer experience;
5. Hardware – Hardware Innovation in terms of Design or any usable hardware centric feature for smart phones.

Talking about the initiative, Mr. Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division, Panasonic India said, “Today’s youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but the partners of today. Panasonic Open-Innovation contest will help these students to relate concepts they learn in the classroom to real work in the field, which can further motivate them to look deeper into specific concepts instead of merely studying what is required. With this contest Panasonic is looking forward to receive concepts which could simplify existing usage, add more pleasure to mobile phone usage, make them more aesthetic or user friendly, add newer convergence features. The participant/ teams will be evaluated on the basis of their ideas usefulness, commercial viability, practicality and the quality of the overall presentation of their ideas.”

He added, “We have key parameters of evaluation for shirt listing & Awards. The Judging will be anonymous. When the participant enters this challenges his/her submission will be assigned a number, and the Judges will identify their submission by title and number only. Judges will score each team on a scale of 1 (Poor) to 10 (excellent). The teams with the best overall scores will be the winners.”

The company will be awarding cash prizes worth 3 lakhs including a cash reward of one lakh for the winner and also across each of the five categories. Additionally, there will be mobile phones and commendation certificates to be won and if the idea created by the team or individual is taken forward by Panasonic, the participating team or individual could be provided the chance to develop the concept into a prototype.
