Ok, relax, we’re not talking about privacy invasion. Global taxi company, Uber is playing its part in reducing potential car accidents as it has a presence in more than 350 cities around the world. Uber is connected to each of its drivers’ phones which checks various parameters like breaking, speed etc. and notifies the driver when he’s doing something wrong, like if he’s speeding etc.
The phone’s built in gyro, accelerometer and GPS are used to acquire the parameters. It also uses the information to verify any rider complaints. Drivers can get sent weekly driving score cards, speeding alerts and reminders to take regular breaks. For now, the features are being rolled out in 11 cities the US and a few cities in India.
