Huawei-Made Nexus Could Feature Fingerprint Reader, Snapdragon 820 SoC

Google has been rumoured to be working on two Nexus smartphones to launch this year. Preliminary leaks have claimed out of the two Nexus smartphones – the smaller is being manufactured by LG, and the larger by Huawei. Now, new details about the Huawei-made Nexus smartphone have emerged and it comes from one of the most reliable tipsters on the Internet, @evleaks (or Evan Blass).

Huawei-Made Nexus

Blass in a tweet has claimed that the Nexus smartphone built by Huawei will feature a metal body and fingerprint reader. Both the features, if the leak is correct, will debut on a Nexus device for the first time. Other details tipped include a 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) display, which of course seems to be smaller than the Motorola Google Nexus 6 featuring a 5.96-inch QHD display. Further, contradicting an earlier report that suggested a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset on the Nexus, Blass hints that Google and Huawei will prefer going for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Blass also claimed that the Huawei-made Nexus smartphone will start shipping in Q4 this year.

Last month, a Huawei employee reportedly confirmed that the Chinese company was working with Google for the upcoming Nexus smartphone.

Recently, an alleged listing of the LG-made Nexus handset on AnTuTu benchmarks showed an impressive score of 85530, which was the highest in any handset we have seen until now. The score was said to have come from the LG-made version of a new Google Nexus 5, reportedly called the Google Nexus 5 (2015).

To recall, Google has worked with HTC, Samsung, LG, and Motorola for Nexus handsets. The HTC-made Nexus One was the first Nexus smartphone launched back in 2010 while with Samsung the company launched Nexus S in 2010 and Galaxy Nexus in 2011. The company changed gears and joined hands with LG for next two consecutive Nexus handsets namely – Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Meanwhile, formerly Google-owned Motorola made the last Nexus smartphone, the Nexus 6.
