LG G4c, G4 Stylus Smartphones With G4-Like UI Launched

LG, as expected, has launched two new variants of the flagship G4 smartphone, the G4c and G4 Stylus. The South Korean handset maker on Tuesday announced that both the LG G4c and LG G4 Stylus (see above) will be available in markets in the coming weeks. LG said that both the handsets will be shipping to retailers worldwide in the next several weeks and throughout May.

The LG G4 Stylus will be available as LG G Stylo in select markets including North America and Korea, while it will come in both LTE and 3G configurations. It will be available in Metallic Silver or Floral White colours. The LG G4c, on the other hand, will be available only as an LTE model and will be come in Metallic Grey, Ceramic White, and Shiny Gold colours. The company said that the prices of the handsets and additional availability details will be announced locally at the time of launch.

The company has announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop-based LG G4c (see below) and G4 Stylus will come with a UI derived from the 2015 flagship smartphone, the LG G4.

The G4 Stylus features a 5.7-inch display, which is slightly larger than the 5.5-inch display seen on the G4. As the name suggests, it sports a rubberdium stylus for note taking. The G4c features a 5-inch display and the company touts that it offers “features and styling in a more compact form factor.”

Some of the highlights of the G4-derived UI on the LG G4c and G4 Stylus smartphones include Gesture Shot, which allows the camera to open and close a hand in front of the lens to start a three-second countdown for the shutter; Knock Code, which was first introduced on the LG G2, that allows users to unlock the phone by tapping a personalised ‘knock’ pattern on the display, and Glance View, which shows key notifications on the display when it is turned off.

For specifications, the LG G4 Stylus features a 5.7-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display offering a pixel density of 258ppi; 1GB of RAM; 8GB of built-in storage; expandable storage support via microSD card; 3000mAh battery (removable); Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n; Bluetooth 4.1; NFC; A-GPS; Glonass; Micro-USB; 5-megapixel front camera; 154.3×79.2×9.6mm, and 163 grams. The G4 Stylus will come in LTE and 3G variants featuring slightly different specifications. The LTE model will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor while the 3G variant will feature 1.4GHz octa-core processor. The LTE model will sport a 13-megapixel rear camera while the 3G model will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera.

The LG G4c will feature a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display offering 294ppi; 1.2GHz quad-core processor; 1GB of RAM; 8GB of inbuilt storage; supports expandable storage; 8-megapixel rear camera; 5-megapixel front camera; 2540mAh battery (removable); Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n; Bluetooth 4.1; NFC; A-GPS; Glonass; LTE; 139.7×69.8×10.2mm, and 136 grams.
